The Honor Magic9 Pro Max has been discovered in the Geekbench online database with the model number WKL-AN20. The Geekbench test shows that it is equipped with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset. However, it is still unclear whether it is the standard model or the Pro version.

The prototype used for the benchmark test had 16 GB of RAM and ran Android 17. Therefore, the Honor Magic9 Pro Max will most likely launch with Android 17, although other RAM options may be available. Keep in mind that the results are from a prototype device, and its hardware and software may not be final. Additionally, Geekbench 6.7.1 was used, not the current version 7. Therefore, the results are not directly comparable between different versions.

The Honor Magic9 series is expected to be officially unveiled on September 28th. The Pro Max will be the flagship model and will feature a camera system developed in collaboration with ARRI. The smartphone will be equipped with a 200MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor. Naturally, an ultrawide camera will also be included.

The front of the phone features Honor’s signature 3D face recognition, and rumors suggest it will also include a square selfie camera. The Magic9 Pro Max will be the first smartphone to run Honor’s new MagicOS 11 operating system.

Honor Magic9 series: Photos and Super Edition with 11,000 mAh battery

Last week, Honor offered a first glimpse at the design of the Magic9 Pro Max. Now, the company has confirmed that the product line will also include a Magic9 Super Edition and has revealed the designs, color options, and RAM and storage configurations of all three smartphones.

The Honor Magic9 Pro Max will be available in black, silver, and olive green. It will be offered with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal storage.

The standard Honor Magic9 will be available in black, silver, olive green, and popcorn yellow. Like the Pro Max, it will be offered with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The rear camera layout is similar to the Pro Max, although the camera rings are slightly smaller. The ARRI camera will also be used in conjunction with the smartphone.

Honor has also confirmed that its product range will include a new Magic9 Super Edition, available in the same color options as the standard Magic9. The Super Edition appears to share the same overall design as the standard model but will not feature the ARRI logo on the camera system. It will be offered with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

Honor has confirmed that the Magic9 series will be equipped with an 11,000 mAh battery, but hasn’t specified which model will receive it. However, according to a recent leak, the Magic9 Super Edition will be the model with the larger battery.

Honor Magic9 Pro Max hands-on video

Furthermore, the Honor Magic9 Pro Max, in the moss green color already shown in teasers, has appeared in an unboxing and hands-on video.

The video was posted on Weibo. It begins with a presentation of the phone’s exterior. The “Oreo”-style camera island of the Magic8 series has been replaced by a mix of round elements and a full-width rectangular element.

The rear camera’s label indicates a 200MP sensor (1/1.28 inch) and an f/1.57 lens with optical image stabilization (OIS), which corrects deviations of up to 3°. A second 200MP sensor (1/1.4 inch) is located behind the periscope lens. And yes, Honor’s partnership with ARRI also benefits the Magic9 series (the first jointly developed camera was already used in the Robot Phone).

The wide, pill-shaped cutout for the selfie camera and the 3D depth sensor on the front remain unchanged. Incidentally, the new Honor smartphones are said to be the first Android devices with a square selfie camera sensor.

The Honor Magic9 Pro Max features slim 1mm bezels around the screen and symmetrical 1216 speakers with grilles at the top and bottom. The latest version of the AI button is located on the right side.

The Honor Magic9, Magic9 Pro Max and Magic9 Super Edition are currently available for pre-order in China and will be officially unveiled on September 28th.
