At the end of August, rumors circulated that Samsung would equip the Galaxy S27 Ultra with a new telephoto camera offering 4x optical zoom. This camera was said to use a 1/1.9-inch sensor. However, earlier this week, another source denied this, claiming that the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra would have the same telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom as its predecessor.

Now, another usually reliable source has commented on this topic. According to them, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and a Sony sensor. This means it won’t have 4x optical zoom, strongly suggesting that it is indeed the same camera as in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Furthermore, the new leak has also confirmed that the Galaxy phone’s ultrawide camera will retain its 50MP resolution, matching the sensor in the S26 Ultra. However, the selfie camera is expected to receive an upgrade, specifically to a 16MP sensor and the addition of autofocus. This would be an improvement over the 12MP selfie camera of the S26 Ultra.

The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to feature the new M16 OLED display and, at least in some markets, be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. However, rumors also circulate that the Exynos 2700 will be used in some markets, after previous reports showed enormous potential for the chip.
