The Garmin Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro smartwatches were launched today, with the latter boasting the first all-titanium case and the largest AMOLED display in the Fenix range ever.

Garmin Fenix 9

The Garmin Fenix 9 features a fiber-reinforced polymer case with a titanium back and a display twice as bright as its predecessor, which uses sapphire crystal. It’s water-resistant to 40 meters and equipped with splash-proof buttons. It also offers 50% more RAM than the Fenix 8 and a more powerful map engine with 30% faster scrolling. The watch has 64 GB of storage, twice that of the Fenix 8.

The Fenix 9 is available in 43mm, 47mm, and 51mm sizes and features Garmin Epic. This feature summarizes activities recorded over several days, weeks, or months into a single “Epic” (hence the name). You can view your health and performance data for that period, add photos, and share everything with friends. The Garmin smartwatch also offers more detailed insights during indoor rowing, enhanced rucking features, and a new endurance tracking logic with endurance zones and an endurance curve.

Garmin Fenix 9 Pro

The Garmin Fenix 9 Pro offers all of this, plus a new design, a peak brightness of 3,000 nits on the display, a 1.5-inch display on the 51mm model, and – according to Garmin – solar charging capability for selected Pro models, enabling battery life of several weeks.

Also available on selected Pro models is inReach connectivity with LiveTrack notifications via LTE, Garmin Locate, weather forecasts directly on the watch for any location and – in case of emergency – help from the 24/7 Garmin Response Coordination Center.

The Fenix 9 starts at $999.99 and offers up to 29 days of battery life in smartwatch mode at its largest size. The Fenix 9 Pro starts at $1,099.99 and offers up to 31 days of battery life in smartwatch mode at its largest size. With solar charging, this extends to an impressive 57 days.
