Google Pixel’s Glow feature could be released under the name HiLight
Google’s upcoming Pixel 11 Pro series will feature an RGB LED notification light integrated into the rear camera bar. Rumors initially suggested this feature would be called “Pixel Glow,” but a new rumor indicates it could be marketed as “HiLight.”
Leaker Evan Blass recently published new promotional images of the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, which hint at the RGB LED lighting of the rear camera array. Notably, the feature is referred to as “HiLight” in the marketing materials, rather than the previously rumored “Pixel Glow.”
According to leaked promotional images, the HiLight feature illuminates when a Google Pixel 11 Pro or Pro XL is placed face down. This notifies the user of calls from specific contacts or indicates that Gemini is in use.
Contacts with their own HiLight color
Although we don’t yet know all the use cases for the feature, a report from 9to5Google claims to have discovered code in the latest version of the Google Contacts app that reveals one of its functionalities. According to the code strings, the Google Contacts app will allow users to assign a HiLight color to individual contacts.
The report adds that users can choose between the colors blue, cyan, green, orange, pink, purple, turquoise, white and yellow for contact-related notifications.
The Google Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, Pixel 11 Pro Fold and the Pixel Watch 5 will be officially unveiled on August 12th.
