Xiaomi 18 and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max certifications indicate worldwide launch

A few days ago, rumors circulated that Xiaomi would be launching the 18 Pro worldwide, unlike its predecessor. Now, a tipster on X has revealed that two Xiaomi smartphones have been certified by the EU. They bear the model numbers 2609BPN61G and 2611FPNFAG. According to the tipster, the former could be the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max and the latter the Xiaomi 18.

The certification essentially confirms that these devices will be released outside of China. While the global launch of the Xiaomi 18 is no surprise, as this was also the case for its predecessor, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max was only available in China.

Therefore, the wider release of its successor is noteworthy. Added to this is the earlier rumor that the 18 Pro would also be released worldwide. This could mean that all three devices will be available outside of China.

That would represent a significant change in strategy for Xiaomi. However, this year most smartphone manufacturers faced new challenges due to rapidly rising storage costs, which may also have influenced their release strategies.

Xiaomi 18 series with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipsets

The Xiaomi 18, 18 Pro, and 18 Pro Max models are expected to be unveiled in September. The Pro models are rumored to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, while the base model is expected to receive the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.

Rumors suggest the Xiaomi 18 Pro will feature a 200MP main camera and a 200MP telephoto macro camera, both with large sensors. The Pro Max could receive the same specifications. It will also reportedly include improved speakers and a more powerful vibration motor, while the smaller 18 Pro is expected to have a battery with a capacity of at least 7,000 mAh.
