Nokia 123 Shield unveiled as the “most affordable water and dustproof feature phone”
HMD has unveiled a new 2G feature phone called the Nokia 123 Shield, which the manufacturer is promoting as its “most affordable water- and dust-resistant feature phone,” optimized for “reliable call quality.” According to HMD, the phone is resistant to rain, splashes, sand, and dust. While no IP rating is specified for the phone, a footnote on the official website states that the device “meets the requirements of protection class IP65 according to IEC standard 60529.”
Furthermore, HMD states that the Nokia 123 Shield was specifically designed for outdoor use. It features a non-slip surface on the sides and a rubber seal to protect the headphone and charging ports.
Regarding call quality, HMD claims that the Nokia 123 Shield is optimized for a stronger and more reliable signal to enable clearer calls and better connectivity compared to 2G feature phones like the Nokia 105.
However, the phone is powered by the Unisoc SC6531E chip, runs the S30+ operating system, and has 4 MB of RAM and 4 MB of internal storage, expandable up to 32 GB via a microSD card. It also features a 2.4-inch QVGA display and a QVGA camera, complemented by an LED flash that can be used as a flashlight and is 300% brighter than the flash on the Nokia 110.
The 2G feature phone has a replaceable 1750 mAh battery that is charged via a USB-C port and allows for a standby time of up to 19 days and a talk time of 27.9 hours.
Other highlights of the Nokia 123 Shield include a 3.5 mm headphone jack, dual SIM support and an FM radio (wired and wireless).

The Nokia 123 Shield is available in green and purple. HMD has not yet announced the price, but the phone is being offered by several retailers in Bulgaria for around €35 and in Greece for around €40.
