Xiaomi Mix Fold 5, global Redmi Note 17 and Note 17 Pro Max before launch
Xiaomi is working on its next foldable smartphone, which is expected to be called the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5. It has now reportedly been certified for sale in China by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) under model number 2608BPX34C. Additionally, the Thai NBTC authority has certified the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max for the global market.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 with Xring O3 chipset
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 is expected to have a wider form factor compared to its predecessors, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Apple iPhone Ultra. The foldable screen is rumored to have a 7.6-inch diagonal. It is also rumored to be powered by Xiaomi’s own Xring O3 chipset, the successor to last year’s original Xring O1.
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 is expected to launch with Android 17 and the HyperOS 4 user interface. According to recent rumors, it will feature a 200-megapixel main camera, a 6,000 mAh battery, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
NBTC certifications for Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max
The Thai NBTC has also certified the Redmi Note 17 and Note 17 Pro Max worldwide. The Redmi Note 17 has the model number 26081RA18G, and the Note 17 Pro Max has the number 2609FRA74G.
The certification does not reveal any technical specifications, but from previous certifications by NCC and Eurofins we know that the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max has a 9,210 mAh battery with support for 100 watt fast charging and is dustproof and waterproof according to IP68.
The Redmi smartphone is expected to be offered worldwide in four storage configurations: 8/256 GB, 8/512 GB, 12/256 GB, and 12/512 GB. Rumors suggest that the global Redmi Note 17 will be identical to the Chinese version, except for its slightly smaller battery (7,700 mAh instead of 8,000 mAh in the Chinese model). The latter is also expected to be available in India, with a planned launch on August 6th.
