Galaxy S26 Ultra: Samsung confirms the red screen problem

Shortly after the Galaxy S26 Ultra went on sale, reports surfaced online about a problem with a red screen. The cause was initially unknown, and many suspected a hardware defect related to the first generation of OLED displays with privacy protection. However, Samsung has now released an official statement in which a manager explained the cause of the problem.

This is therefore not a hardware problem with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, but a software issue. Consequently, the problem can be resolved with a software update. According to the Samsung manager, the color balance can exhibit a reddish tint in bright ambient light. To fix this, Samsung is preparing a software update that will correct the color balance.
Galaxy S26 Ultra software update not yet available
Unfortunately, the software fix is not yet available. If you are in a hurry and the red screen is bothering you, a visit to a Samsung service center may be necessary.
Despite the annoying problem, it is at least reassuring to know that it is not a problem with the OLED display, but a software problem that can be fixed relatively easily.
However, Samsung’s statement doesn’t explain why the problem only appeared after some time, nor why the red/magenta tint is only visible in certain areas of the display. We’re curious to see if it really is just a software issue. According to the latest leak, the Privacy Display feature is supposed to be available on all four Galaxy S27 models and may even include heart rate and blood pressure monitoring.
