Nothing Phone (4b) unveiled with Glyph Bar and large battery

The Nothing Phone (4b) is here – according to the manufacturer, the Nothing Phone with the longest battery life to date. However, the Phone (4b) doesn’t represent a real upgrade over the Phone (4a) – it positions itself somewhere between the (4a) and the (3a) Lite.

The Nothing Phone (4b) in its global configuration features a 5,200 mAh battery – enough for 22 hours of continuous video streaming. A different version with a larger 6,000 mAh battery is available in India. Both variants support 33W wired charging and 7.5W reverse charging.

The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4. This makes it superior to the Phone (3a) Lite with its Dimensity 7300 Pro, but it falls short of the Phone (4a) with its Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. For comparison: The Phone (3a) Lite has a recommended retail price of €250/£250, while the Phone (4a) costs €350/£380/₹40,000.
Nothing Phone (4b) in black, blue and white
The Nothing Phone (4b) features a 6.77-inch OLED display with a 1080p+ resolution, very similar to, but not identical to, the display of the (3a) Lite model. It’s a 120Hz panel with an outdoor brightness of 1,200 nits and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. The display is protected by Dragontrail Pro Glass.

The main rear camera features a small 50MP sensor (1/2.76 inch) and an f/1.8 lens with optical image stabilization (OIS). It is complemented by an 8MP ultrawide camera (1/4-inch sensor, f/2.2 lens) with a 120° field of view. The main camera can record video in 4K at 30 frames per second or in 1080p at 60 frames per second.

As with model (4a), this model also features a glyph strip on the back – four white and one red LED. This serves to display timers, as a shooting light, and for other functions (customizable in Nothing OS). The selfie camera has a 16 MP resolution (1/3″, f/2.4) and an 82° lens.
The Nothing Phone (4b) is a dual-SIM phone, though the eSIM option appears to be available only in Japan. It also supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (ax), Bluetooth 6.0, and NFC (except in India). Location tracking is via single-channel GPS. It features built-in stereo speakers and two microphones, but no 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Other noteworthy details include the IP64 certification. Officially, this only guarantees protection against splashing water. However, internal tests also examined the smartphone underwater; it survived 20 minutes at a depth of up to 25 cm.
The in-display fingerprint reader is optical. The company promises a physical proximity sensor. The Essential button on the side can activate Essential Voice, Essential Search, and various AI-powered applications.
The Nothing Phone (4b) ships with Nothing OS 4.1 based on Android 16 and receives operating system updates for three years and security patches for six years.
Nothing Phone (4b) prices
The Nothing Phone (4b) will be released for €330 / £300 / ₹35,000. It can be pre-ordered from Nothing.tech and is available in white, black, and blue. In most regions, only the 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant is available. Unlike the (3a) Lite, it does not have a microSD card slot.
In India, the smartphone is distributed by Flipkart and is also available there with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage (39,000 ₹). Both versions use LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.
