Xiaomi is launching the Redmi Note 17 series in China this month, but given past developments, the global models could be many months away. When they do appear in other markets, they will likely differ significantly from their Chinese counterparts, as is usually the case.

The BIS has now certified a Redmi device with the model number 2607DRA18I and a Poco device with the model number 2607DPC18I, and it could actually be the same phone under two different names – it definitely wouldn’t be the first time Redmi and Poco have done something like this.

Rumors suggest that this will be the global Redmi Note 17, while the Poco device is allegedly called the Poco M8 Plus and will thus be the successor to the Poco M7 Plus released in August of last year. The Redmi Note 17 will be the successor to the Redmi Note 15, as Redmi, like Xiaomi, is foregoing the number 16.

Redmi Note 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max and 17R Specs and Images

Rumors suggest there will be four models: the Redmi Note 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and 17R – and technical specifications for two or three of them have already leaked. The base model is said to have a flat 6.83-inch display with 1.5K resolution and a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset – or alternatively a 6s Gen 4, though there are conflicting reports.

The latest report mentions the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chip in the Redmi Note 17 Pro, while the previous report rumored a Dimensity 7500 chip. Furthermore, both the base and Pro models are said to feature a 9,000 mAh battery and a 50 MP camera.

According to this report, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will instead use the Dimensity 7500 chip. It will also feature a 200MP camera and a 10,100mAh battery. The Pro Max is also said to have a flat 1.5K OLED display, although it’s unclear whether this is the same 6.83-inch panel as the other two models.

The smartphones ship with HyperOS 3.1 (Android 16) and feature stereo speakers. Technical specifications for the Redmi Note 17R are not yet available.

The Redmi Note 15 series didn’t include a Pro Max model, but it did have a Pro+ version. The Redmi Note 15, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro+ were equipped with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, a Dimensity 7400 Ultra, and a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, respectively. The two Pro models featured larger 6.83-inch OLED displays with 1280p+ resolution and 200MP cameras, while the standard model had a 6.77-inch OLED display with 1080p+ resolution and a 108MP camera.

The battery capacities also differed, at 5,520 mAh, 6,580 mAh and 6,500 mAh, but were far below the values of 9,000 mAh and 10,100 mAh that are being discussed for the successors.
