Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro almost everywhere with Exynos 2700

For a while, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro sounded like a kind of “mini-Ultra” due to rumors of a privacy display feature for its 6.47-inch screen. However, we were reminded that this wasn’t the case when it was revealed that the Pro and Ultra models use different telephoto cameras (the main, ultrawide, and selfie cameras remain the same). And now there’s further confirmation.


According to the Korean magazine Money Today, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro will be equipped with the Exynos 2700 chipset outside of North America. Traditionally, the Snapdragon chip is used in China, although this wasn’t mentioned in the report. The S27 Ultra, on the other hand, will be equipped with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip worldwide. Therefore, the S27 Pro will likely not be a “mini-Ultra” after all.

The Exynos 2700 in the Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro is manufactured using Samsung’s SF2P process, which offers 26% lower power consumption and 15% higher clock speeds compared to the SF2 process used in the Exynos 2600. Reports also indicate that Samsung will move away from the traditional stacked design (with the DRAM above the chipset) and use a side-by-side layout.


It works exactly as it sounds: the DRAM and chipset are positioned side by side and connected by a silicon interposer. This improves heat dissipation, since the heat from the chipset normally has to pass through the DRAM chip before reaching the heatsink.
Initial benchmark results were not convincing; however, the test sample ran at very low clock speeds – the top core only reached 2.88 GHz, compared to 3.8 GHz for the Exynos 2600 Prime core and a specified maximum clock speed of 4.2 GHz for the Exynos 2700 (an ARM C2 Ultra core).
It was never in question, but it is expected that the standard Samsung Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ models will also use the Exynos 2700 in most markets, again with the exception of North America and possibly China.
