iOS 27 source code hints at new Apple wearable with visual intelligence

An X user named samhenrigold discovered a reference to a new Apple wearable with the model number B790 in the iOS 27 source code. The reference itself isn’t very informative, but it confirms that the device supports visual intelligence features.

The new Visual Intelligence feature allows users to ask Siri about objects using the standard camera app on iPhones running iOS 27. The feature is available starting with the iPhone 15 Pro.

Unfortunately, we don’t know which device is mentioned in the source code, but it’s certainly a new model with a camera. After all, the code contains instructions for how Visual Intelligence works, which can recognize landmarks, text, familiar objects, and brand logos. And that’s impossible without a camera.
We might be seeing the first signs of Apple’s mixed-reality glasses here, or perhaps there will be some kind of AirPods with cameras after all, although the latter seems rather unlikely. Especially after the recent rumors that Apple has cancelled the development of the AirPods Ultra with cameras.
