Insta360 Luna Ultra launches as a DJI Osmo Pocket 4P alternative
Insta360 officially entered the handheld gimbal camera market today with the launch of its new flagship, the Insta360 Luna Ultra. Developed in collaboration with Leica and designed for vlogging, the camera features a dual-camera system, similar to that of the upcoming DJI Osmo Pocket 4P.
The Insta360 Luna Ultra features a 1-inch main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 20mm equivalent focal length. Additionally, a telephoto camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a 60mm equivalent focal length is available, offering up to 3x optical zoom, 6x lossless zoom, and 12x digital zoom.
One of the standout features of the Insta360 Luna Ultra is its detachable 2-inch touchscreen. Serving as a remote monitor and control, the screen allows users to compose shots and record in HD resolution from up to 20 meters away. It can also be switched between portrait and landscape orientation.
The compact gimbal camera features a 1,550 mAh battery, which, according to Insta360, provides up to four hours of runtime and also supports fast charging. As expected from a gimbal camera, the Luna Ultra also offers 3-axis mechanical stabilization with features like Deep Track 5.0 for subject tracking.
Insta360 Luna Ultra shoots 8K videos at 30 FPS
Insta360 states that the Luna Ultra can record videos in up to 8K resolution at 30 frames per second, 4K footage at up to 120 frames per second, and 4K slow-motion videos at up to 240 frames per second. It can also take photos at up to 37 MP in UltraPhoto mode and panoramas at up to 200 MP resolution.
The Luna Ultra supports 10-bit video recording and offers Dolby Vision and i-Log. It has 47 GB of internal storage and supports microSD cards up to 1 TB. Audio recording is handled by a four-microphone array.
Prices
The Insta360 Luna Ultra is available in Cosmic Black and Stellar White, with the whiter version weighing 235g. Connectivity options include a USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi 6 on the main camera unit, and Wi-Fi 4 on the detachable display.
The camera costs US$769.99 (€667) and is available through the official Insta360 online store, Amazon and other online retailers.
