Google I/O 2026: Samsung and Google Smart Glasses are here

Last October, Samsung announced the development of AI-powered smart glasses in collaboration with Google and the eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Now, at Google I/O 2026, the companies have officially unveiled the upcoming smart glasses, equipped with Android XR.
Gentle Monster Smart Glasses
The AI smart glasses will be available in two different designs, one by Gentle Monster and the other by Warby Parker. While Google and Samsung haven’t yet released detailed hardware specifications, they have already teased some of the glasses’ key features.

According to Google and Samsung, the AI glasses run on Android XR and enable hands-free operation of Gemini via voice command. Users receive detailed navigation instructions, can discover nearby places, and get personalized recommendations in real time.

The glasses will also support a range of productivity features, including the ability to place orders, view summarized message notifications, create calendar events, and much more.

The Android XR glasses also enable real-time translations during conversations, and the integrated camera and AI functions offer instant translation of text and gestures. The camera can also be used to take photos and videos.
Like most smart glasses currently on the market, the new wearable will also function as a companion device that pairs with a smartphone.

While detailed hardware specifications have not yet been revealed, official images show that the glasses are equipped with a single camera and an LED indicator light.
The AI glasses developed by Samsung and Google are expected to be launched in late autumn; further details are expected to be announced in the coming months.
