vivo Y500s unveiled with Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip and 7,200 mAh battery
A week ago, vivo introduced the Y6t – a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 smartphone with a 6.74-inch 720p+ display, a 6,500 mAh battery, and an affordable price of 1,400 CNY (€175/USD 205) for the base version with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Now the company is presenting a second version of the same model with an even better price-performance ratio – the vivo Y500s is here.
The vivo Y500s features a larger 7,200 mAh battery with 44W fast charging (11V at 4A) via USB-C. A full charge allows for nearly 24 hours of video playback or 15.5 hours of navigation. Even with only 20% battery remaining, approximately 3 hours of navigation are still possible in power-saving mode.
This is a Blue Ocean 3 battery, which can be safely charged even in very cold (-20°C) or very hot (40°C) environments. vivo specifies 1,600 charge cycles with at least 80% of the original capacity, which is sufficient for 6 years of normal use.
The vivo Y500s is powered by a somewhat older Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset , but still modern 4nm chipset with a 5G modem, the smartphone also features a 6.75-inch LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1570 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. Above this is an 8-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.1 aperture.
The rear camera is significantly more interesting, featuring a 50MP sensor and an f/1.8 aperture. That might not sound like much, but its sister model, the Y6t, only has a 13MP rear camera.
The vivo smartphone is protected against immersion according to IP68 and against high-pressure water jets according to IP69. It features stereo speakers with a one-button cleaning mode that removes water if the smartphone is accidentally dropped in water. It also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Several configurations are available, with the base model featuring 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage offered for 1,800 CNY (€224/USD 263). The top-of-the-line Y6t model, with 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, costs 1,600 CNY (€199/USD 234). Thanks to its larger battery and improved camera, the vivo Y500s is well worth the extra 200 CNY.
There is also a current price promotion, so the 12/256 GB and 8/512 GB models are reduced by 100 CNY. The vivo Y500s is available in Obsidian Black, Galaxy Silver, and Phoenix Gold.
