Huawei Pura X Max: First images of the iPhone Fold competitor
Huawei will unveil a new model in its foldable smartphone series in China next week. The new model, named Huawei Pura X Max, will feature larger displays compared to the original Pura X, which was distinguished by its unusual, foldable design with a wide aspect ratio.
Little is known about the Huawei Pura X Max beyond its triple rear camera, housed in a pill-shaped, horizontal module. Huawei’s images show the device in both portrait and landscape orientations. The smartphone features selfie cameras on both the outer and inner displays.
According to the official Huawei online shop, the Huawei Pura X Max will be available in the colors Interstellar Blue, Olive Gold, Phantom Night Black, Vibrant Orange and Zero Degree White.
Although Huawei hasn’t released any technical specifications for the new smartphone, it’s likely to have larger and wider external and internal displays compared to the Pura X. It could be equipped with a Kirin 9030 series chipset.
Huawei Pura X Max versus Apple iPhone Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Wide
Despite its unusual form factor, the Huawei Pura X Max already faces two competitors: the Apple iPhone Fold and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Wide will use a similar wide aspect ratio.
Regarding the design of the Apple iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra there have already been numerous rumors, but last week the first ones alleged dummy models surfaced. When closed, the device is said to have a 5.5-inch display, making it Apple’s smallest iPhone of the current generation. When unfolded, it measures approximately 7.8 inches, making it about half an inch smaller than the iPad mini.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone Fold in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models The foldable iPhone is expected to launch shortly after the release of the Pro models. Rumors suggest it will be available starting at around $2,000 and offered in the classic colors space gray/black and silver/white. One rumor also indicates that Apple will call it the “iPhone Ultra” instead of “iPhone Fold.”
The Huawei Pura X Max will be launched in China on April 20th, along with the Pura 90 Pro Series presented.
Storage options include 12/256 GB, 12/512 GB, 16/512 GB, and 16 GB/1 TB. Interested customers can pre-order the device now from the Huawei online shop.
