vivo X300 Ultra unveiled with large 35mm camera and new 200MP 85mm zoom
The vivo X300 Ultra is now officially available. It continues the evolution of the series and doesn’t deviate from the core specifications of its predecessors. This means that while the camera system has been improved through enhanced hardware and software, it still relies on the same 14mm, 35mm, and 85mm configuration.
The vivo X200 Ultra introduced the large 1/1.28-inch sensor with a 14mm focal length, and the X300 Ultra appears to be reusing this for 2026. While the 85mm zoom lens sounds the same—200MP, 1/1.4-inch—it uses Samsung’s newer ISOCELL HP0 sensor. This offers twice the autofocus speed at 60 AF updates per second, lower power consumption, and 3° gimbal optical image stabilization (OIS), which vivo claims achieves a stabilization rating of CIPA 7.0.
Then there’s the new main camera of the vivo X300 Ultra. While it still has a 35mm focal length, which means a slightly narrower field of view than the typical 24mm, it sits in front of a larger 1/1.12-inch Sony Lytia 901 image sensor with 200MP (compared to 1/1.28 inch and 50MP). That’s almost 1 inch more and four times the resolution.
Aside from the sensor, the lens uses a new, industry-leading 1G+6P coating technology that, according to vivo, reduces reflections by 20%. It is also CIPA 6.5 certified for professional image stabilization.
In addition, there are two new teleconverters for the vivo X300 Ultra’s 200MP telephoto camera: the 400mm teleconverter with 17.4x magnification, called the “Cannon 400,” and a new, smaller 200mm teleconverter with 8.7x magnification, called the “Lipstick 200.” A new photo kit is also available called vivo Imaging Grip Kit.
vivo X300 Ultra stabilizes the entire focal length range
However, there are two further imaging improvements worth mentioning: video and a new color technology. The vivo X300 Ultra offers several video-focused features, including optical image stabilization (OIS) across the entire zoom range (all cameras have optical stabilization, with the telephoto camera offering the best), support for importing 3D LUTs (look-up tables), and support for 4K video recording at 120 fps with 10-bit Log color depth across multiple focal lengths. Vivo’s Log format is compatible with the ACES Pro workflow for post-production.
Vivo has also developed a new photo app that offers a 3D LUT library for various color styles. Additionally, the X300 Ultra supports Vivo’s proprietary Multi-Focal 4K Master Color Video – a color processing feature based on Vivo’s new color technology. Let’s talk about it.
Vivo’s new color technology first utilizes data from a new 50MP True Color camera with 12 spectral channels, ensuring pixel-perfect color and tonal reproduction. Then things get a bit more technical. A dynamic compression algorithm with Smooth EV intelligently analyzes the HDR data of multiple frames to preserve highlights and protect tones. Vivo’s color technology then tailors the results to your individual needs—for a more cinematic, vibrant, or entirely different look. The choice is yours.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and 6,600 mAh battery
The vivo X300 Ultra is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and optionally equipped with 12 or 16 GB of RAM. The battery has a capacity of 6,600 mAh and supports 100-watt wired fast charging and 40-watt wireless fast charging.
The vivo mobile phone will initially be released in China and subsequently reach markets worldwide, marking a first for the Ultra model. The smartphone is available in green, silver, and black, as well as in storage configurations of 12/256 GB, 12/512 GB, 16/512 GB, and 16 GB/1 TB (with support for satellite communication).
Prices
Prices start at 6,999 CNY (882 €/1,013 USD) for the 12/256 GB model. Pricing for the other variants is not yet available. The official sales launch is April 3rd.
