The vivo X300 Ultra offers numerous improvements compared to its predecessor, and according to a new teaser, these include its audio capabilities. Han Boxiao, product manager at vivo, has announced some significant improvements to the audio recording and audio playback of the upcoming global flagship.

vivo X300 Ultra with improved audio quality in all areas

The first improvement concerns the optimization of the use of the vivo X300 Ultra’s four available microphones. These combine spatial recording with noise cancellation and AI-powered speech recognition to isolate voices and improve audio recording.

Above you can see a screenshot of the new camera app of the vivo mobile phone, which Boxiao shared. The smartphone can record audio directionally, directing the recording to the front or back of the device, activate noise reduction (from 0 to 100%), and even adjust the gain (from -100 to 100).

The second improvement is more hardware-related and less AI-based. The vivo X300 Ultra receives a larger and smarter speaker on the top. This speaker is reportedly almost three times the size and has a volume of 0.8 cm³. According to vivo, this represents an increase in physical size of approximately 167%. Flagship smartphones typically have speakers with a volume of about 0.3 to 0.5 cm³. This is due to the camera module, which is usually located in the upper part of the smartphone and reduces the available space.

Vivo has also equipped the amplifier with 20% more power. According to Boxiao, this results in an improvement of almost 4 dB in the bass range around 300 Hz and an extension of the treble range by 3 kHz. This has allowed the upper frequency response to be extended from 17 kHz to 20 kHz.

Reports indicate that Vivo has redesigned the entire upper right side of the phone and used it as the speaker housing. The speaker compartment cover has been relocated to the stand. Vivo claims to have patented this innovative design.

vivo X300 Ultra camera examples

Furthermore, vivo has shared several camera examples of the X300 Ultra. The images show shots taken with the main and telephoto cameras, as well as with the 200mm and 400mm teleconverters.

The images demonstrate the capabilities of the primary 200MP Sony LYT-901 camera in daylight at a 35mm focal length. According to Xiao, the sensor can capture up to 30% more light than the previous generation.

In addition to examples from the main camera, vivo also shared several images taken with the Samsung HP0 200MP periscope telephoto camera and the 200mm and 400mm teleconverters.

The vivo X300 Ultra also comes with a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a large 1/1.28-inch Sony LYT-818 sensor. Rumors suggest it will also have a 5-megapixel multispectral camera.

According to the latest leaks, the vivo X300 Ultra could be unveiled in China on March 30th. The smartphone will subsequently be available worldwide.
