HMD Luma: 4G smartphone with 50 MP camera and 3.5 mm jack is here
HMD has launched a new model called the HMD Luma. It appears to resemble the HMD Vibe, but with a less powerful chipset.
The HMD Luma is powered by the Unisoc T615 chipset, a 12nm chip with Cortex-A75 and A55 cores, which are now quite outdated. The smartphone has 4GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage – a microSD card slot is also included. Unfortunately, the device ships with Android 15.
In addition to the memory card slot, the phone features other “classic” functions such as a 3.5 mm headphone jack and an FM radio receiver. For wireless headphones, the phone supports Bluetooth 5.0. Stereo speakers are also integrated and suitable for music and videos.
The Luma features a USB-C 2.0 port that can deliver 18W to its 5,000mAh battery. Unlike the Vibe, this is a 4G-enabled dual-SIM smartphone.
It has a better camera than the Vibe 4G, namely a 50MP sensor like the 5G version of the Vibe. It also has a better 8MP selfie camera (we said “better,” not “good”).
HMD Luma with 120 Hz display
The display is a 6.67-inch LCD with a resolution of 720 x 1604 pixels. It features a 120 Hz panel, which is slightly better than the Vibe (which has a 90 Hz display).
The HMD Luma is available in titanium and blue. We found it on HMD’s websites in Nigeria and Ghana, but neither site listed the price. According to the teaser clip on Instagram above, the smartphone will be “available soon.”
