Xiaomi 17 Ultra will arrive in Europe on February 28th
Xiaomi has announced its next global launch event, which will take place on February 28th at 2 PM local time in Barcelona. As you can see from the X post embedded below, the event’s slogan is “The new wave of visual language is here.” Therefore, it’s pretty clear that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will celebrate its world premiere on this occasion.
Rumours are circulating that the standard model Xiaomi 17 also joins the party, as well as the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro, the new Xiaomi Tag and the Xiaomi Watch 5. Unfortunately, we haven’t heard anything yet about a global market launch of the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max. They have been heard of, therefore they will most likely remain limited to China, including the rear display.
According to recent rumors, the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra released in Europe will match the prices of their predecessors. The technical specifications are identical to the Chinese models except for the battery capacity. The Xiaomi 17 has a battery capacity of 6,330 mAh (compared to 7,000 mAh in China), while the Ultra model has a capacity of 6,000 mAh (compared to 6,800 mAh).
Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition is coming to the global market under a different name
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition will also be available internationally, as recently confirmed by a certification in Thailand from the NBTC. However, it was revealed that it will be offered under a different name: Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi.
It’s a bit of a tongue-twister, but it makes sense: There have been three Leitz phones so far, all exclusively available in Japan. Leica seems to have now abandoned this series and replaced it with its own version of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. If you’re wondering about the name: Ernst Leitz was the founder of Leica, and the company name itself is a combination of “Leitz” and “Camera.”
The Leica Leitzphone by Xiaomi bears the model number 25128PNA1G, as the aforementioned certification shows. A prototype with this model number has now been discovered in the Geekbench AI database. This confirms that, like its Chinese counterpart, it is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and 16 GB of RAM. It is expected to run Android 16 and Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 user interface from the start.
The Leica Edition of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is more expensive in China than the regular Xiaomi 17 Ultra, so we expect this to be the case in other markets as well.
