Sony Xperia 1 VIII and Xperia 10 VIII appear in GSMA database

Xperia fans may have been concerned after Sony placed its well-known TV brand Bravia under the control of TCL. However, during the latest conference call regarding the financial results, Lin Tao, CEO and CFO of Sony, explained that “No status change” will happen to the Xperia smartphones. Let the games begin for the Sony Xperia 1 VIII and Xperia 10 VIII.

Furthermore, the Japanese website S-Max conducted research and discovered the model names for the Sony Xperia 1 VIII and Xperia 10 VIII in the GSMA IMEI database.

These models are numbered consecutively, e.g., the Sony Xperia 1 VII and the Xperia 10 VII were the models PM-150X-BV and PM-151X-BV (X is a number that indicates regional variants).
Sony Xperia 1 VIII with three models
The PM-152X-BV and PM-153X-BV models are likely the successors with the model number VIII. The flagship Sony Xperia 1 VIII also carries the model designations XQ-GE44, XQ-GE54, and XQ-GE74. The mid-range models of the 10 series are available under the designations XQ-GH44, XQ-GH54, and XQ-GH74.
The model names remain cryptic, but the crucial point is that they exist and will replace the Xperia 1 VII, which launched in June of last year, and the Xperia 10 VII, which appeared in September. Unfortunately, this will be the third generation without an Xperia 5 model – the last one being the Xperia 5 V from September 2023.
The GSMA IMEI database doesn’t reveal much more – both phones are listed with one slot and two IMEI numbers, meaning they have a single nano-SIM slot and an eSIM. Further technical details about the new Xperias or the announcement date are not yet known.
