Samsung Galaxy S26 series: Wireless charging to be faster, but not magnetic

A new entry has appeared on the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) website, revealing an improved wireless charging protocol for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 models. The listed model numbers are assumed to refer to the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra.


According to the document, the three smartphones will support the Qi 2.2.1 standard for wireless charging, which enables charging power of 20 watts or more. This assumption aligns with a previous rumor, which also stated the Galaxy S26 Ultra will be equipped with 25-watt support for wireless charging.

That’s only the good news, though. The bad news is that the Galaxy phones only support the Basic Power Profile (BPP) and not the Magnetic Power Profile (MPP). This means that the devices do not have integrated magnets and cannot be connected to Qi2 accessories with magnets. This is only possible with compatible protective cases.
Fans of magnetic wireless charging will be just as disappointed as Samsung customers who have been waiting for years for a larger battery than the familiar 5,000 mAh. According to previous leaks, also on the Samsung Galaxy S26 design little will change.
