Redmi Turbo 5 and Turbo 5 Max unveiled with Dimensity chips and large batteries
Xiaomi has unveiled two exciting new Redmi phones. The Redmi Turbo 5 is positioned in the mid-range, while the Turbo 7 Max, with its new Dimensity 9500e chipset and a massive 9,000 mAh battery, almost qualifies as a flagship killer.
Redmi Turbo 5 unveiled with Dimensity 8500 Ultra chip and 7,560 mAh battery
The Redmi Turbo 5 is the world’s first smartphone with the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset. The Turbo 5 features LPDDR5 Ultra RAM, UFS 4.1 storage, and the same vapor chamber cooling as the larger Max model.
Compared to the Max version, it features a slightly smaller 6.59-inch AMOLED display. This display offers a 120 Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 3,500 nits, and a 1.5K resolution. It is also a 12-bit panel with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support.
The device features a 7,560 mAh battery and supports 100W wired charging. It also offers 27W wired reverse charging. The Turbo 5’s camera setup includes a 50-megapixel main sensor (Sony IMX882) on the back, paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. A 20-megapixel selfie camera is located on the front.
The device runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. It features a metal frame and glass back, an in-display optical fingerprint scanner, an infrared sensor, stereo speakers, 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, and NFC. It is 8.18 mm thick and weighs 204 g.
The Redmi Turbo 5 is available in the colors Auspicious Cloud White, Light Sea Green and Shadow Black.
The device is currently available for order in the official Xiaomi online store in China. The version with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage costs 1,999 CNY (241 euros/290 US dollars), while the version with 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage costs 2,299 CNY (277 euros/330 US dollars). The model with 16 GB RAM and 256 GB storage also costs 2,299 CNY, and the top-of-the-line model with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage will set you back 2,599 CNY (313 euros/370 US dollars).
Redmi Turbo 5 Max with 9,000 mAh battery and Dimensity 9500s chipset
The Redmi Turbo 5 Max features a powerful 9,000 mAh battery and is the world’s first device with the recently introduced MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset. It also features up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and 512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage. To ensure optimal cooling, the smartphone also has a generously sized vapor chamber.
One of the most outstanding features of the Turbo 5 Max is undoubtedly its large 9,000 mAh battery, which supports 100W wired charging. The smartphone also offers 27W wired reverse charging and is equipped with the Xiaomi P3 fast charging chipset and the G1 battery management chipset.
On the front, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 12-bit color depth, equipped with M10 luminance material and reaching a peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits. The screen also offers a 120Hz refresh rate, support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, and a 480Hz touch sampling rate. Below it is a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and in the center is a 20MP selfie camera.
On the back is a dual camera with a 50 MP main sensor (Light Fusion 600) with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera. Redmi Turbo 5 Max runs on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 and features stereo speakers. It also offers an infrared sensor, dual SIM support, protection up to IP69K, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 6, and NFC.
The Redmi Turbo 5 Max is currently available in China via the official Xiaomi online store in the colors Auspicious Cloud White, Ocean Blue, Sunshine Orange and Shadow Black.
Prices start at 2,499 CNY (301 euros/360 US dollars) for the 12 GB RAM/256 GB storage variant. The 12 GB RAM/512 GB storage model costs 2,799 CNY (338 euros/400 US dollars), as does the 16 GB RAM/256 GB model. The top-of-the-line model with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage is available for 3,099 CNY (374 euros/445 US dollars).
