Xiaomi 17 Ultra with 1-inch sensor, 200 MP telephoto and 6,800mAh battery is here

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra was unveiled in China today as the new flagship smartphone of the brand. In addition to the standard model, the company also announced a Leica Edition, which features a unique design and a mechanical zoom ring.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a Leica triple-camera system on the back. The main camera has a 50MP LightFusion 1050L sensor (1 inch) with LOFIC technology. It’s complemented by a 200MP Samsung HPE periscope telephoto lens (1/1.4 inch) with continuous optical zoom and a 50MP ultrawide camera with autofocus.


The front of the smartphone features a flat 6.9-inch M10 AMOLED LTPO display with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, a resolution of 2608 x 1200 pixels, and a peak brightness of up to 3500 nits. The display is protected by Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0. Also located on the front are a 50-megapixel selfie camera and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.


The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and features up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. It runs Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3.0 and already offers various AI features.
Xiaomi has also equipped the 17 Ultra with a large 6,800 mAh silicon-carbon battery. It supports 90W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 22.5W wired reverse charging.
Other specifications include an infrared sensor, dual SIM, Hi-Res Audio, stereo speakers, a quad-microphone array, IP66/IP68/IP69 protection ratings, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and satellite communication. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is available in black, cool smoke purple, starry green, and white.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition
The Leica Edition offers the same specifications as the standard version, but has some additional features, including a mechanical zoom ring that allows you to adjust focal length, exposure and white balance.


It features a two-tone design inspired by the Leica M-series cameras, as well as a knurled pattern on the frame and the red Leica logo on the back.
The 17 Ultra Leica Edition also features special Leica Moment modes in 3:2 format, a security and encryption chip, and dual satellite communication. The smartphone comes in a special box containing a lens cap, a carrying strap, a magnetic protective case, and a cleaning cloth.


The Xiaomi smartphone will be offered in black and cream white. Both versions will be available in China from December 27th in the official Xiaomi online store.
Prices
As for prices, the standard model of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is available in three variants: with 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage for 6,999 CNY (846 €/995 USD), with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage for 7,499 CNY (906 €/1,065 USD) and with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage for 8,499 CNY (1,027 €/1,210 USD).
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition costs 7,999 CNY (967 €/1,140 USD) for the model with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage and 8,999 CNY (1,087 €/1,280 USD) for the variant with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage.
