DJI Osmo Nano: Mini action cam with dock announced
The new DJI Osmo Nano action camera is here, an ultra-compact action camera that can be mounted anywhere. It consists of a two-part construction – the tiny camera body and a removable Multifunctional Vision Dock that houses the display and other electronics. The main camera weighs just 52 g, and the dock weighs another 72 g. The camera is waterproof up to 10 m, but the dock only has an IPX4 rating and cannot be taken underwater.
The DJI Osmo Nano features a new 1/1.3″ CMOS sensor with a resolution of 6880 x 5160 pixels and a dynamic range of 13.5 stops. It has a field of view of 143° and a minimum focus distance of 35 cm. The camera can record 4K videos at up to 60 frames per second in standard mode and 120 frames per second in slow motion mode.
Videos can be recorded in 10-bit and D-Log M for more flexible color grading in post-production. You also get the electronic stabilization features RockSteady 3.0 or HorizonBalancing, and you can also capture photos with the DJI Osmo Nano at a resolution of up to 35 MP.
The DJI Osmo Nano’s camera body features built-in storage and a battery. The internal storage is available in either 64 GB or 128 GB, and the docking station supports microSD expansion up to 1 TB. The camera itself has a 520 mAh battery, while the docking station has a 1300 mAh battery. This allows the camera to record up to 90 minutes of video in 1080p at 24 frames per second, and up to 200 minutes when connected to the docking station with the display turned off. The camera can only be charged while connected to the docking station and takes about 20 minutes to reach 80%.

Speaking of the display: The DJI Osmo Nano dock features a 1.96-inch OLED touchscreen with a resolution of 314 x 556 pixels and a peak brightness of 800 nits. The display can be used for monitoring with the camera connected, but also wirelessly with the camera module removed.
For such a compact camera, accessories are essential for mounting it anywhere, and the Osmo Nano doesn’t disappoint. You get a magnetic hat clip for attaching it to the brim of your hat, a magnetic lanyard for hanging the camera around your neck or attaching it to your clothing, a magnetic headband for wearing it around your head, and a magnetic chest strap for wearing it around your chest.
There’s also a two-way magnetic adapter mount with a ball joint for attaching the camera outside or inside your car, a foldable two-way adapter mount for attaching the camera to most existing action camera accessories, and a protective case. DJI also offers an ND filter set and a nano glass lens cap.
The DJI Osmo Nano costs €279 for the 64 GB model. It includes the camera, the Osmo Nano Multifunctional Vision Dock, the Osmo Nano Magnetic Hat Clip, the Osmo Nano Magnetic Lanyard, the Osmo Nano Protective Case, a USB-C to USB-C PD cable (USB 3.1), and the Osmo Nano Dual-Direction Magnetic Ball-Joint Adapter Mount. The 128 GB model with the same kit costs €309. The camera will not be available in the US at launch.
