Xiaomi 17 Pro Max: Photos and video of the new secondary display
Xiaomi has just confirmed that the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max will launch in China this month. Actually, the number 16 would be next. However, since China wants to compete with Apple and the iPhone 17 models, the number 16 has simply been skipped.
Now the back of the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max has been revealed, by none other than Xiaomi itself. The rumored display on the back is also there, and the design is identical to what was leaked a week ago.
This image was briefly used on Xiaomi’s official Weibo account before being removed. This means it was either an oversight or part of Xiaomi’s teaser campaign for its upcoming flagship devices.
All three Xiaomi 17 models are expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, whose name Qualcomm just confirmed after some speculation about it in recent weeks. While the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Pro are expected to be the same size, the Pro Max will be more in line with the larger Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max. However, the Pro has better cameras and perhaps also a better display than the base model.
Xiaomi 17 Pro: Video shows second display
According to a second official teaser, not only the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max will get the second display, but also the 17 Pro. The brand shared a teaser video on Weibo showing both devices with their new rear displays integrated into the camera island.
Xiaomi hasn’t revealed any further details about the size and specifications of the second display. We can assume there will be multiple display options with watch faces, notifications, and a camera viewfinder. According to the Weibo post, the rear display will be called the “Magic Back Screen.”
The last time Xiaomi gave one of its smartphones a second screen was with the Mi 11 Ultra in 2021. It featured a much smaller 1.1-inch AMOLED panel, located in the top right corner of the camera module.
