vivo X300, X300 Pro and X300 Ultra: Design and camera details revealed
Vivo continues to promote the upcoming X300 series, revealing key design details of the flagship models this time. According to Vivo product manager Han Boxiao, the Vivo X300 series will be slimmer and lighter than its predecessors. Despite improved camera hardware, it will also feature a more compact body.
In an image shared with the Weibo post, we can see that the camera bump has a tapered edge rather than the ring seen on the current X200 series.
The vivo X300 and X300 Pro will use a new cold-forming technology that should reduce the overall thickness. According to the vivo executive, the upcoming phones will be only 7 mm thick without the camera module.
vivo X300 Ultra will get two 200 MP cameras
A few days ago, tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that the vivo X300 Ultra will be the world’s first phone with two 200 MP cameras. Now, the tipster is back with some clarifications regarding the cameras in question. The main camera will be paired with the IMX09E sensor, while the periscope uses the IMX09A. New details have been revealed today about the E version of the main camera.
It’s a 1/1.12-inch sensor with 0.7 µm pixels, manufactured on a 22 nm node. It will feature “Hybrid Frame HDR” technology, which appears to be a marketing name for the combination of DCG and VS: Dual Conversion Gain and Voltage Scaling. The former uses two different conversion gains for each pixel (one for darker areas, the other for brighter areas). The latter is a similar technique for improving dynamic range.
Overall, the IMX09E boasts a dynamic range of over 100 dB, improved full-well capacity, and higher sensitivity. It also offers 2x and 4x lossless sensor zoom and 2x OCL (“On-Chip Lens”), which improves autofocus performance.
The periscope will use a new lens arrangement combining glass and plastic elements. The vivo X300 Ultra will use a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera to complete the trio on the back. The selfie camera is said to be a 50MP module with autofocus.
The vivo X300 Pro will use a customized 200MP sensor from Samsung for its periscope, instead of a Sony sensor like the Ultra. The main camera will likely feature a 50 MP Sony LYT-828 (1/1.3-inch) sensor.
