Despite rumors, no tri-folding Galaxy phone was unveiled at the recent Galaxy Unpacked. However, last week, Samsung Electronics CEO TM Roh confirmed that the new model will launch at the end of this year. The sales name is said to be Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold shortly before launch

Roh, however, said: “We are currently focusing on perfecting the product and its usability, but have not yet decided on a name. Since the product is close to completion, we plan to make a final decision soon.”

The decision may have been made, as well-known tipster Max Jambor has suggested the name “Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold” as a possible option. Presumably, another number will follow, similar to the Z Flip7 FE, the first Z Flip FE, which nevertheless belongs to the Z 7 series.

The video of the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold below was spotted in One UI 8, which was introduced with the new foldables Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, after a previous beta test on the Galaxy S25 series.

Previously, the name “Galaxy G Fold” for the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold had been circulating in rumor mills. However, Samsung is likely reluctant to abandon the popular “Z” name.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold instead of Galaxy G Fold

The “G” was a reference to display prototypes that Samsung already presented at CES 2022. The images show the Flex G and the Flex S, various concepts with different folding mechanisms. Back then, all Galaxy fans were hoping for a quick launch. Instead, Huawei remains the only manufacturer with a tri-foldable device – the Mate XT Ultimate.

So far, only hints of the code name and model number of the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold – Q7M and SM-F968, respectively. And the charging speed, which is once again said to be only 25 watts. For comparison: The Galaxy Z Fold7 is called Q7 and SM-F966. The information leaked so far suggests that the triple foldable device will only be produced in very limited numbers and is likely to be launched in a few countries, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.

Huawei Mate XT 2 Upgrades

The Huawei Mate XT 2, however, is already in the starting blocks. According to a new rumor from China, there won’t be a major upgrade compared to the original, but there will still be some improvements. The Mate XT 2 will be powered by the Kirin 9020 chipset and feature satellite communication.

The main camera of the Huawei Mate XT 2 is said to be a new development, but will retain its 50 MP resolution and variable aperture. There will also be an improved periscope telephoto lens.

According to the tip, that’s all the changes compared to the original Mate XT Ultimate. Everything else is expected to remain unchanged, including the foldable display and battery capacity.
