Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Flip7 FE with Exynos chips introduced

Samsung’s new foldables are here. In addition to the Galaxy Z Fold7, the company also presented the premium Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 and the more affordable Galaxy Z Flip7 FE. Both smartphones ship with One UI 8 based on Android 16, which, among other improvements, also offers additional features for the FlexWindow.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 has mastered the difficult task of developing a slimmer body while simultaneously increasing battery capacity. The new model measures 13.7 mm when folded and 6.5 mm when unfolded and features a 4,300 mAh battery. For comparison: The Galaxy Z Flip6 measures 14.9 mm/6.9 mm and has a 4,000 mAh battery. The weight is almost unchanged at 188 g.

The displays have also gotten larger: The cover display is now an edgeless 4.1-inch Super AMOLED panel with 1,048 x 948 pixels and 120 Hz, with the thinnest bezels of any Galaxy phone – just 1.25 mm. This is a significant improvement over the 3.4-inch display of the previous model.

The cover display of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 has a vision booster function and can achieve up to 2,600 nits for excellent visibility outdoors. The Google Gemini Ki Assistant and the Now Bar can now be used on the FlexWindow. In addition, more apps from first and third-party providers can be used on the cover display, which also offers more adaptation options.

The internal display is also larger and now measures 6.9 inches of 6.7 inches. Samsung states that it is similar to the display of the Galaxy S25+ (The display of the Z Flip7 is 68.6 mm wide, compared with 70.8 mm on the S25+). Once folded, the flip is of course more compact.

The Samsung engineers had their hands full when they wanted to make the Galaxy Z Flip7 thinner. They had to slim down the internal components and pack poets than with all other Galaxy devices. Die Armor Flexhinge has also become 30 % thinner than before.

Interestingly, Samsung chose to waterproof the internal components instead of sealing the bezels. The outer halves are made of Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and the frame is made of Armor Aluminum. The Z Flip7 is IP48 dust and water resistant.

Another innovation since last year is the chipset – the smartphone is powered by the new Exynos 2500, a 3 nm chip, worldwide – there is currently no Snapdragon variant for the North American market. The chip is equipped with 12 GB of RAM and 256/512 GB of storage.

The improved efficiency of the Exynos 2500 compared to last year’s Snapdragon promises up to 31 hours of video playback on a single charge – the larger battery capacity also contributes to this. The smartphone supports 25W wired charging (1–50% in 30 minutes) and wireless charging.

The rear cameras are a 50 MP main camera (f/1.8, 1.0 µm pixels, OIS) and a 12 MP ultrawide-angle camera. These can be used for selfies, as can the 10 MP in-display camera. There’s no dedicated telephoto lens, but Samsung claims the 50MP main camera offers 2x optical-quality zoom.

A major upgrade this year is support for 10-bit HDR video, which offers four times richer color reproduction than the Z Flip6. Filters are now displayed in real time on the FlexWindow cover display. This display has even more new features. Auto Zoom automatically keeps you in the frame, so you can put the smartphone down (folded halfway as a tripod) and get on with your work—it also handles brightness adjustments. Alternatively, you can adjust the settings manually using the zoom slider.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 is available in Blue Shadow, Jet Black, and Coral Red, as well as the online-exclusive Mint color. Pricing details can be found in the table at the bottom of the article.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is €200/$200 cheaper than the base model of the Z Flip7. However, the storage is smaller: 8/128 GB instead of 12/256 GB. Comparing the 256GB models, the FE is €140/$140 cheaper.

The Z Flip7 FE is essentially a remake of the Z Flip6. However, it has a new chipset, the Exynos 2400 from last year’s Galaxy S24 series. There is less RAM on board at 8 instead of 12 GB.

The rest is the same – the FE measures 14.9 mm when folded and 6.9 mm when unfolded and weighs 187 g – including the 4,000 mAh battery. It features a foldable 3.4-inch cover display and a 6.7-inch display inside. The exterior is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and Armor Aluminum.

Like its siblings, this model is IP48 dust and water resistant. It is only available in black and white; there are no online-exclusive colors. The smartphone runs One UI 8 and Android 16 out of the box.

The cameras are a 50 MP main camera (f/1.8, 1.0 µm pixels, OIS) and a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera on the outside, as well as a 10 MP internal camera, which do not support HDR video.
