Sony stops Xperia 1 VII sales in Japan
Sony introduced its latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 VII, in May. It has been available in Japan for some time. Today, however, the company announced that it would temporarily halt shipments and sales of the device in the Japanese market.
This is due to numerous reports of Xperia 1 VII devices turning off on their own, randomly restarting, or not turning on at all. Of course, each of these three problems is a major issue individually, but apparently all three are currently occurring.
If the Xperia 1 VII won’t turn on, Sony recommends holding down the power button and the volume up button for about 20 seconds. Press and hold the button for a few seconds to resolve the issue and then install the latest software update. If that doesn’t help, Sony recommends contacting support.

Interestingly, while Sony suggests that the latest update will resolve the issues, it states on the same page that the cause is still being investigated. Therefore, the software update may be more of a precautionary measure than a real solution. We’ll keep you updated on further developments.
