Redmi K Pad: Apple iPad mini competitor officially unveiled
Xiaomi has unveiled the design of the Redmi K Pad, the first flagship tablet in the Redmi family. It has been officially confirmed that the tablet uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset. This chip will most likely also power the Galaxy Tab 11 tablets. For comparison: Last year’s Redmi Pad Pro only used the mid-range Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor.
The Redmi K Pad will be significantly smaller than the 12.1-inch Pro – the K will feature an 8.8-inch LCD display, which, according to Xiaomi CEO Lu Weibing, makes it more portable and suitable for one-handed use.
According to a Weibo post, the Redmi K Pad will directly compete with the Apple iPad mini. The display will have such a high resolution and refresh rate that Xiaomi apparently had to use two display driver ICs. However, Lu does not go into detail on this topic.
Previous rumors indicate that the K Pad will have an 8.8-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 3K+ and a refresh frequency of 165 Hz. It supports 67-watt charging processes, but the battery capacity is not yet known. There is “Gamma antenna” next to the camera, whatever that means.
The tablet is supposed to cost 4,000 CNY (482 €/560 $) and launch together with the Redmi K80 Ultra (see photo above) also on the dimensity 9400+.
