DJI Mavic 4 Pro: 100 MP 4/3 camera, 41 km range and 90 km/h
Faster, further, longer and with better cameras – The new DJI Mavic 4 Pro is here and brings with it a unique trick: the 360° Infinity Gimbal. The gimbal can be rotated a full 360 degrees for Dutch Angles and vertical videos. For dramatic shots, the view can also be directed 70° upwards.
This gimbal accommodates three cameras: wide angle, medium telephoto and long telephoto. The main camera is a 100-megapixel Hasselblad camera with a large Four Thirds sensor and a wide 28mm lens (previously a 20-megapixel sensor). This module has an adjustable aperture from f/2.0 to f/11.
Next is the medium telephoto camera, a 48MP 1/1.3-inch unit with a 70mm lens (similar to the 3 Pro camera). Then there’s the long telephoto module with a 50MP 1/1.5-inch sensor and a 168mm lens (f/2.8 aperture), a notable improvement over the DJI Mavic 3 Pro’s 12MP 1/2-inch module.
The DJI Mavic 4 Pro’s three cameras promise consistent color reproduction, so you can easily switch between them. All three support the 10-bit color profiles D-Log, D-Log M and HLG. You can also shoot 4K/60fps HDR videos with at least 13 stops of dynamic range with any camera.
The Hasselblad main camera can record up to 6K videos at 60fps and has a dynamic range of up to 16 stops. For slow motion clips, the main and medium telephoto cameras have 4K/120fps mode, while the long telephoto offers up to 4K/100fps.
The DJI Mavic 4 Pro has a 95Wh battery that offers more power. The drone can fly for up to 51 minutes and reach top speeds of 90 km/h. For comparison: the 3 Pro could stay in the air for up to 43 minutes. With the improved DJI O4+ transmission system, you can fly the drone at a range of up to 41 km. If you move within a maximum radius of 30 km, 10-bit HDR video transmission is possible.
DJI Mavic 4 Pro with six fisheye cameras and two processors
The DJI Mavic 4 Pro has six Fisheye cameras with low-light function and two processors for navigation and collision avoidance. These enable omnidirectional obstacle avoidance at up to 65 km/h in low light conditions. In good light, the drone maps its surroundings and can return home even without GPS reception. The ActiveTrack 360° system can track subjects even when they are partially obscured and can detect and track vehicles from up to 200 m away.
dji also presented a new remote control, the DJI RC Pro 2. It has a 7-inch mini-LED display and 128 GB integrated memory. The battery life is up to 4 hours. You can record audio either with the integrated microphone or by coupling a DJI microphone.
In addition, the DJI Mavic 4 Pro can be used with the parallel charging hub. Up to three batteries can be charged – the battery with the lowest load is supplied with more power, and as soon as they have reached the same state of charge, all batteries are evenly charged. A battery can be charged in 50 minutes, all three need 90 minutes.
This hub also has a few clever tricks up its sleeve. For example, it can take power from charged batteries and distribute it to batteries that need charging. Or you can use it as a 100-watt power bank to charge your phones and laptops. With DJI’s QuickTransfer feature, you can use the DJI Fly app to transfer videos from the drone at up to 80 MB/s over Wi-Fi 6 while the drone is in the bag. Of course, you can transfer faster via a USB-C cable.
DJI Mavic 4 Pro Prices
The DJI Mavic 4 Pro will only be available in Europe, not the US. The basic package includes the drone with 64 GB of built-in storage, a battery, and the simpler DJI RC 2 remote controller. The price is €2,100.
The Fly More Combo costs €2,700 and includes two additional batteries, a 100-watt USB-C power adapter, the charging station, and a carrying case. There’s also the Creator Combo, which includes a drone with more onboard storage (512 GB), the new DJI RC Pro 2 remote controller, a 240-watt power adapter, and a USB-C to C data cable. However, the price is a hefty €3,540.
