vivo X200 Ultra with additional lens and X200s with large battery are here
The vivo X200 Ultra is finally official today, following a major event in China. The phone is said to be a true camera phone with dual ISPs and a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Also in tow was the vivo X200s, another premium phone with a thin, compact body and a large battery.
vivo X200 Ultra
The vivo X200 Ultra is the flagship of the X200 series. The Qualcomm chipset is paired with 12 GB or 16 GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM, while the storage is UFS 4.1 with three options: 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB. On the front is a 10-bit 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution, 4,500 nits peak brightness, and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.
The camera setup makes the vivo X200 Ultra exceptional. The phone now features a V button on the right side, exactly where the index finger usually sits on digital cameras. This is a customizable button that’s perfect for a shutter button.
Inside, vivo has packed not one, but two dedicated camera chips. There’s the vivo V3+, which is a classic ISP for post-processing, but vivo is now also introducing the vivo VS1. The new platform aims to improve exposure and focus and handle image stacking—then the data is passed to the V3+ for more processing-intensive tasks like noise reduction and sharpening.
The vivo X200 Ultra features three cameras on the back: a 50 MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch Sony LYT-818 sensor and an f/1.7 aperture; a 200 MP telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch Samsung ISOCELL HP9 sensor and an 85 mm focal length; and another 50 MP Sony LYT-818 for ultra-wide-angle shots.
All cameras support 4K video recording at 120 frames per second for slow-motion shots, while Dolby Vision’s 4K video recording at 60 frames per second ensures true color. The selfie camera also has a 50 MP sensor.
Vivo also offers a special highlight: an optional additional zoom lens that gives the telephoto camera an additional 2.35x zoom and enables images with an equivalent focal length of 200mm. It comes in a special photo kit that includes multiple lenses, straps, a case that attaches to a handle via USB-C, and a separate 2,300mAh battery.
The vivo X200 Ultra is a great camera, but it’s also a stylish smartphone, running the latest OriginOS and Android 15. Inside is a 6,000mAh battery that supports 90W wired and 40W wireless charging.
vivo X200 Ultra Prices
The vivo X200 Ultra is available in black or red, and there’s also a white version that mimics the design of Rimowa suitcases. The starting price is CNY 6,499 (€775/$900) for 12/256 GB. The top-of-the-line 16 GB and 1 TB versions with satellite connectivity cost CNY 7,999 (€950/$1,100). The latter is the only one available with the photo bundle. The price for the complete package is CNY 9,699 (€1,150/$1,350). We don’t expect the vivo X200 Ultra to launch outside of China.
vivo X200s
The vivo X200s may be part of the current flagship portfolio, but vivo said it is the natural evolution of last year’s vivo X100s. It’s a slightly smaller smartphone with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1260p and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The chipset here is a MediaTek Dimensity 9400+, paired with 12/16 GB of RAM and 256 GB/512 GB/1 TB of storage in five different storage combinations.
The vivo X200s may be smaller than the regular X200, but the phone offers space for the same powerful cameras. The rear camera trio consists of a 50 MP f/1.6 main lens, a 50 MP f/2.6 telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 50 MP f/2.0 ultrawide lens. A 32 MP selfie camera sits behind a punch-hole.
The battery is the main selling point of the vivo X200s. It has a capacity of 6,200 mAh, more than ever before in a vivo X smartphone. It supports fast wired charging at 90W and wireless charging at 40W with the appropriate charger or stand.
The vivo X200s also runs OriginOS based on Android 15. It features an AI filter for spam calls, a homework assistant, and the Chinese version of Circle to Search, which allows the device to search the internet directly for anything displayed on the screen.
Other features include 360-degree NFC, a large vapor chamber for cooling, and expanded connectivity options with improved antenna design and intelligent switching between Wi-Fi and cellular networks. However, just like the X200 Ultra, the vivo X200s is unlikely to make it out of China.
