Oppo Find X8 Ultra with new dual 50 MP periscope cameras is here
Today, Oppo unveiled its flagship phone for 2025. The Oppo Find X8 Ultra makes the Find X7 Ultra even better. Also in the mix are the Oppo Find X8s and Find X8s+. The Ultra has a more attractive design and all the performance you’d expect from a 2025 flagship. It also has a larger battery and better cameras.
The Oppo Find X8 Ultra claims to be the thinnest flagship camera phone at 8.78 mm (compared to 9.5 mm for its predecessor). Despite its thinner thickness, the new phone is more robust, meeting the expected IP68 dust and water resistance rating and IP69 water jet rating. Oppo also claims a five-star SGS drop resistance rating.
The Oppo Find X8 Ultra’s display appears to be unchanged, which is no bad thing. It features a 6.82-inch 10-bit LTPO OLED panel with a refresh rate of 1-120 Hz, a resolution of 3,168 x 1,440 pixels, and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. As expected, Oppo has also upgraded the Find X8 Ultra to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, equipped with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X-9600 RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage. The smartphone runs ColorOS 15 based on Android 15.
One of the most significant upgrades is the new 6,100 mAh silicon-carbon battery—a size increase of almost 20%. The new cell supports the same 100W SUPERVOOC wired charging and 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging, as well as 10W reverse wireless charging.
The Oppo Find X8 Ultra features two new physical controls: a new shortcut button in the top left and a new Quick button in the bottom right. The shortcut button can be customized for numerous functions and apps, while the Quick button is primarily for camera control. It’s similar to the one on the Oppo Find X8 Pro.
Oppo has upgraded the Find’s two zoom cameras. Finally, there’s a new True Chroma camera, which analyzes the color temperature of a scene and, together with Hasselblad-tuned processing, delivers accurate skin tones in all lighting conditions—a feature that was extensively demonstrated during the launch event.
The main camera is a 23mm f/1.8 unit with the same 50MP 1-inch Sony LYT900 sensor used in last year’s Find Ultra. It’s the largest sensor used in a modern smartphone and, according to Oppo, is about 63% larger than the main camera in the iPhone 16 Pro Max and 69% larger than the 200MP main sensor in the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

In addition, the Oppo Find X8 Ultra has two periscope zoom cameras, both of which have been improved over the previous generation. The short 3x zoom lens features the same 1/1.56-inch 50 MP LYT700 sensor, but the lens is a 70 mm lens (2.8 x or 65 mm on the old model) with a much brighter f/2.1 aperture (f/2.6 on the Find X7 Ultra). According to Oppo, the sensor is 105% larger than the one in the 70 mm zoom lens on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and around 300% larger than the one in the 67 mm zoom lens on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The 6x 135 mm telephoto zoom lens now features a larger 1/1.95-inch LYT600 sensor (1/2.51-inch on the Find X7 Ultra) with a significantly brighter f/3.1 aperture (compared to f/4.3). The ultra-wide-angle lens sounds inferior, though – it’s a 15mm f/2.0 lens and a 1/2.75-inch Samsung JN5 sensor; the previous model featured a 14mm f/2.0 camera with a larger 1/1.95-inch sensor. Finally, in the foreground, you can see the same 21mm f/2.4 autofocus ultra-wide-angle camera with the 1/2.74-inch LYT506 sensor.
Behind the scenes, Oppo’s next-generation HyperTone Image Engine improves processing power and thus performance in challenging light. There’s AI tone mapping for better depth and detail (according to Oppo, especially in backlit scenes), and the ProXDR engine improves brightness and color information (Oppo claims a 4x increase in data richness).
Oppo claims you’re getting the “holy trinity” of lenses in your pocket. But it doesn’t stop at photography: The Oppo Find X8 Ultra doubles the slow-motion function with 4K 120fps and is now also equipped with Dolby Vision.
Prices
The Oppo Find X8 Ultra is available in Matte Black, Pure White, and Shell Pink – all with smooth, matte finishes on both the metal rails and the glass panels. The flagship will be available in China on April 16th at a price of CNY 6,499 (€795/£685/INR 76,000) for the base model with 12/256 GB, CNY 6,999 (€860/£740/INR 82,000) for the 16/512 GB model, and CNY 7,999 (€980/£840/INR 94,000) for the 16 GB/1 TB model.
Now, as is often the case with Oppo, comes the big but: Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that the Oppo Find X8 Ultra will ever reach markets outside of China.
