Meta announced two new smart glasses at Meta Connect 2026. The company presented its first camera-free, purely audio glasses, the Ray-Ban Meta Audio, as well as a new virtual reality headset simply called the Meta VR Glasses.

Meta VR Glasses

The Meta VR Glasses use a two-part system: The glasses themselves house the display and sensors, while an attached puck handles the processing power and contains the memory and battery. The connection between the glasses and the puck is made via an optical cable.

Thanks to this two-part construction, the Meta VR Glasses themselves weigh only 100 grams. They feature micro-OLED displays with 5K resolution and 37 pixels per degree, as well as support for Dolby Vision.

The frames house the speakers, which support Dolby Atmos surround sound. Meta has also integrated its AI agent, Meta AI, into the operating system. The built-in sensors allow users to control the glasses via eye movements and hand gestures.

The Meta VR Glasses are powered by the newly introduced Snapdragon Reality Elite chipset and are said to offer up to three hours of use with the attached puck. The puck also supports 45-watt fast charging.

The virtual reality headset is IMAX Enhanced certified and supports 3D movies and games via Xbox Cloud Gaming. It will also feature hologram calls, which will create a photorealistic representation of the user for video calls, complete with real-time facial expressions and reactions.

The Meta VR headset will be available in spring 2027 and will cost from $1,299 (€1,142) in the USA.

Ray-Ban Meta Audio

Alongside the VR headset, Meta also announced its first camera-less smart glasses, the Ray-Ban Meta Audio. The new audio glasses weigh 43 grams and are said to offer up to 12 hours of battery life on a single charge. With the charging case, this extends to up to 48 hours.

The smart Ray-Ban Meta Audio sunglasses are available in 23 color and lens combinations in the new Clubmaster and Burbank designs.

The Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses cost 349 US dollars (307 euros) and will be available from October 13th.
