Meta Glasses disable video recording when the recording LED is blocked

The smart Meta Glasses feature an LED indicator on the side of the frame that flashes when the camera is recording, to warn people nearby. However, some users complain that the small indicator is easy to miss.

In response, Meta has introduced new privacy-oriented security measures for its latest smart glasses that prevent recording if the recording LED has been tampered with.

The feature is currently available on Meta’s second-generation smart glasses and newer models, and will be gradually rolled out to all of the company’s smart glasses.
Meta Glasses automatically detect the state of the recording LED
The function automatically detects whether the recording LED is covered or damaged. If tampering is detected, the camera is deactivated and will only function again once the LED has been repaired, according to the manufacturer.
Meta also announced that it will remove advertisements, social media posts, and online entries that promote services that disable or manipulate the recording LED.
