Apple has announced a new subscription tier that transforms paid iCloud+ subscriptions into a more comprehensive package in more than 100 countries. According to Apple, in select countries, every paid iCloud+ plan, including the most affordable 50GB plan, now includes Apple TV and Apple Arcade “at no additional cost,” while Family Sharing extends access to storage, TV, and Arcade to up to five people.

The new tier is not available in the US, Canada, and Australia, nor is it offered in the UK or other European countries. However, it is clearly more than just a promotional offer, as Apple TV and Apple Arcade will no longer be sold as individual subscriptions through Apple in the countries where it has been introduced. Apple states that existing individual subscriptions will be canceled once customers switch to access via iCloud+. Game saves and progress in Arcade will be retained.

According to Apple, existing subscribers in these countries will “automatically gain access” to TV and Arcade. However, those with a standalone subscription to TV or Arcade without iCloud will be notified that they are now iCloud+ subscribers, and their existing standalone subscription will be canceled.

What’s particularly interesting is that Apple One is effectively being discontinued in these markets. New customers can no longer subscribe to the package, although existing customers can keep their subscriptions. This is a clear indication that Apple is shifting its focus from Apple One to iCloud+ in smaller markets.

“We are thrilled to offer iCloud+ users in over 100 countries Apple TV and Apple Arcade in one convenient subscription,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services and Health. “iCloud+ users can now securely store and share personal content across devices, enjoy world-class original content on Apple TV, and discover an impressive selection of hundreds of games through Apple Arcade.”

As part of these changes, Apple is also introducing an additional service called “Apple Music Select,” which includes ad-free music stations curated by Apple. These stations are designed to entice iCloud+ subscribers to upgrade to the full Apple Music service at a discounted monthly price. For example, individual and family subscriptions in Mozambique are priced at $2.79 and $4.49 per month, respectively.

With the introduction of iCloud+ including Apple TV and Apple Arcade, Apple is expanding its Apple TV service to 59 additional countries. This brings the streaming service’s global availability to 170 countries.
