Meta Muse Code Coding Agent for Mac: 20x cheaper if you give Meta your data
Meta Muse Code is here, a terminal coding agent for macOS and Linux. Currently in beta, Muse Code is based on Muse Spark 1.2, Meta’s latest model. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg explained that Muse Code can perform complete software development tasks in large repositories. It can schedule changes, write code, and validate results using multiple persistent subagents.
Muse Code is Meta’s equivalent to OpenAI’s Codex and Anthropic’s Claude Code, and represents Meta’s first major foray into agent-based coding.
Meta Muse Code: /plan, /grill and /goal
Several standard functions are available, such as `/plan` to convert a task into an approval plan, `/grill` to thoroughly test a plan, and `/goal` to work towards the successful completion of a goal. Meta Muse Code maintains a local event log, which can only be extended, and records all model calls, tool runs, approvals, and edits, allowing it to resume from the point of interruption after a crash.
Meta Muse Code can be used with a single command via the Mac’s Terminal after installation; a separate app is not available. The plan costs $1.25 for 1 million input tokens and $4.25 for 1 million output tokens. However, Meta offers a discount for users who grant the company permission to use their prompts and completions to train future AI models.
Prices
With the Contributor tier, which enables the training of meta-models, Muse Spark 1.2 costs $0.10 for 1 million input tokens and $0.20 for 1 million output tokens. The Standard tier is more expensive and does not allow meta to use prompts to train its models.
The cheaper Contributor tier is limited to 60 requests per minute and 2,100,000 tokens per minute, while the Standard tier allows 3,000 requests per minute and 4,000,000 tokens per minute.
