Microsoft Copilot Super App is coming this year
Microsoft is working on a central Copilot AI “super app” that will combine chat, programming, coworking, and the new autonomous autopilot features. The Microsoft Copilot Super App will be available to consumers and business customers later this year.
This information comes from Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who unveiled the strategy during the company’s latest earnings call. Microsoft is just the latest company to join the race to develop AI-powered “super apps” that support chat, programming, and agents.
Microsoft Copilot Super App still far behind expectations
OpenAI offers ChatGPT Work, while Claude has integrated Cowork into its chatbot. The underlying idea is clearly to maximize user time spent in an app that can do more than just chat (or code). This is particularly valuable for OpenAI and Anthropic, who want to make their upcoming IPOs as successful as possible.
Microsoft clearly has considerable financial resources, even though the number of paid Copilot subscriptions is negligible compared to ChatGPT. Of the 450 million Copilot licenses in the enterprise sector, only 30 million Microsoft customers are using paid Copilot licenses.
