The Calendar and Reminders apps look almost identical to those in iOS 26, but there are a few useful new Apple Intelligence features that make both apps more intuitive.

Natural language for calendars

Apple Calendar’s smart feature lets you add events by describing them in natural language. It recognizes people, dates, and locations as you type, and you can add this information by tapping. It’s not quite as seamless as Fantastic, but it’s an improvement. You can’t simply open the app and type “Meeting with Eric on July 14th at 2 PM” and expect the appointment to be correctly filed as it was in Fantastical, because the automatic date adjustment is missing.

The calendar adds an appointment on the selected date, by default the current date. To select a different date using voice input, you can, for example, enter “Meeting with Eric at 2:00 PM on July 14th.” To do this, tap the suggested date for July 14th at the top of the keyboard.

The app automatically sets the event to the time you enter in natural language, so you don’t have to type.

Natural Language for Memories

In the Reminders app, you can now describe reminders in natural language, and the metadata you enter will be filled in automatically. Date, time, and location will be added automatically.

You can enter a reminder, such as “Go shopping tonight at 6 PM” or “Send photos to John tomorrow at 4 PM.” The correct times will then be added automatically. This feature is still in beta and therefore doesn’t always work reliably. Sometimes you’ll need to tap the suggestion below to correct the date and time, while other times it will happen automatically.

Thanks to natural language support, Apple has removed the menu bar at the bottom of the user interface for adding new reminders. Additional features such as images or metadata (e.g., tags) can now be added via the “Details” interface.

Edit calendar event

The user interface for editing events is somewhat easier to use and allows for faster time adjustments. If you change the frequency of an event, the calendar can intelligently apply the changes to all events. Siri can also be used to edit calendar events.

Holiday alerts

The app records holidays and can notify you the day before a holiday to ask if you would like to change your alarm clock’s wake-up time.

Large widgets

The calendar and reminders apps both feature a new, extra-large widget size that takes up an entire app page.

Siri AI

Siri has full access to your calendar and can add appointments via voice command. Anything that’s not possible with manual entry, you can do with Siri.

Siri is significantly more powerful than before and adds events to the calendar more accurately, on the desired day and time, and with parameters such as recurring events.

Simply describe the event you want to create, and Siri will do the rest. Siri can add events from other apps like Mail and Messages to your calendar.

Siri can search the app and reminders, and therefore knows your schedule and to-do list.

Visual Intelligence

Visual Intelligence in iOS 27 allows you to add multiple events from a calendar at once. If you have a document with a list of appointments, such as a child’s training schedule, you can take a picture of it and insert all the appointments into the app at once. The sorting of shopping lists has also been improved in the Reminders app in iOS 27. In addition, more languages are now supported.

The Shortcuts app now includes new Reminders actions, such as “Create Group,” “Create List,” “Create Section,” “Delete Groups,” “Delete Lists,” and “Delete Sections.” There’s also a new “Show Screen Content” option that can be used with Reminders.

Apple Intelligence

To use the Apple Intelligence features in iOS 27, you need an iPhone 15 Pro or newer.
