Opera Air: New browser with meditations and relaxation exercises
Opera may be presenting a solution for those who are constantly scrolling through grim news – the new Opera Air browser. This browser is specifically designed to promote mindfulness, relaxation and physical activity. One of the main features is Take a Break. There are four different modes.
The first mode includes breathing exercises that can help reduce stress and lower blood pressure. How’s your posture? The second mode offers neck exercises. Opera Air takes you through simple stretches and neck relaxation exercises.
Next up is meditation – meditation sessions are designed to help you “improve focus, awareness and overall mindfulness”. Finally, the fourth mode is “Full Body Scans”. This is not as intrusive as it sounds, but is another form of meditation where you focus on different parts of your body and become aware of your feelings.
The Take a Break feature can be accessed manually using the Ctrl+K/Cmd+K keyboard shortcut or it can be triggered automatically via a timer depending on your preferences. Different exercises take different amounts of time: from 3–6 minutes for a breathing exercise to 7–15 minutes for a full body scan. Plus, each exercise is guided by recordings of real voice actors (no AI voice here).
Opera Air with Binaural Beats
Then there’s the Boosts feature. It’s based on Binaural Beats, which you may have come across on YouTube and other places. The Boosts feature actually mixes binaural beats, background music, and ambient noise, and you can control the volume of each component in the mix, so you can adjust it to your liking. Finally, Opera Air uses the tried and tested method of starting your day with a positive quote on the Speed Dial screen (Opera’s trademark home screen).

Opera has been experimenting with the browser UI for years with major redesigns like Opera One or the Opera GX gaming browser. Other browsers tend to focus primarily on functionality, while Opera really thinks outside the box.
