The highly anticipated 30th anniversary release of the Pokémon Trading Card Game is just around the corner, and fans aiming to collect every card have one more item on their checklist. Besides pre-ordering, avoiding queues, and protecting themselves from resellers, die-hard fans should keep an eye out for a special Mewtwo card not included in any of the regular anniversary products.
The Mewtwo promo card was illustrated by an artist named Nagisimo and will be available at the following US retailers.

How to get the Mewtwo promo card for Pokémon’s 30th anniversary?
To get it, you’ll need to spend at least $15 at participating stores in the US starting October 2, 2026. The second batch of 30th Anniversary products will also be released on the same day. So, you could catch two Pidgey with just one Poké Ball. This second batch includes mini tins in day and night designs, each containing two booster packs, a sticker sheet, and a trading card. If you collect enough tins, you can spell out the word “Anniversary” with the Unown in the background. Also releasing on October 2 are the official six-booster bundles—which many consider the best deal of the entire series.
As with any limited-time promotion, it’s advisable to plan ahead. During the Worlds 2026 promotion, where select retailers offered a San Francisco-themed Pikachu card, many participating stores quickly sold out. Demand for this Mewtwo card is likely to be highest at retailers like GameStop or Best Buy, as many customers there are also looking for other 30th-anniversary merchandise.
The set does contain a Mewtwo card, but it’s a Future Rare card, which is difficult to obtain from booster packs. The Nagisimo card is probably the next best alternative.
The first batch of products commemorating the 30th anniversary was released on September 16th. In Germany, the card will be released on November 6th, 2026, and will cost approximately €36. Fans are expecting high demand, so it’s advisable to check with your local card shop for the release schedule.
