October is here, officially marking the start of spooky season. Halloween may be a little while away, but some video games, including Fortnite, have already kicked off the festivities. Fortnitemares has begun, and players can look forward to a variety of creepy skins in the shop, themed quests, cool items, and numerous collaborations.

Hollow Knight, Predator, and Hazbin Hotel are joining Fortnite this month

Previous Fortnitemares teasers and trailers have already confirmed several collaborations, including those with Nightmare on Elm Street, Beetlejuice, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and Obsession. The gameplay trailer added even more, revealing additional franchises. It looks like Hollow Knight, Hazbin Hotel, and Predator will be joining Fortnite this month.

This year features numerous collaborations, but also new cosmetic items. Among them is Jack-A-Nape, a monkey skin that will be available for free in Fortnite. Players who complete a total of 26 Fortnitemares quests will unlock Jack-A-Nape as a reward.

The Pumpkin Launcher is arguably the most iconic item in Fortnitemares – the sound of the pumpkin being shot out of the tube alone evokes nostalgic feelings. Since it’s only available roughly once a year, players should unlock it as soon as possible to avoid missing out. This time, the Pumpkin Launcher isn’t part of the normal loot: it can’t be found in chests unless players unlock it using Sprite Dust in the “Loot Hacks” menu.

With this update, players will gain access to the following loot hacks: Loot Hacker Sprite Variant, Infantry Rifle, LMG, Pumpkin Launcher, Last Call, and Slap Candy Corn.

Inspired by “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” Freddy’s Nightmare is a new melee weapon that lets players tear their enemies to shreds and unleash powerful combos. Combining this item with the Deer sprite from “99 Nights in the Forest,” which boosts melee attacks, allows players to annihilate foes in no time. In addition to the Deer sprite, players must also collect the Vampire, Spooky Dash, and Dumpster Dive sprites.

Anyone looking for chaos and tons of overpowered event weapons should try Blitz Royale. This game mode offers new weapons alongside familiar items from previous Nitemares, such as the Witch’s Broom. But Blitz isn’t the only interesting mode in this update. As it does every October, Horde Rush returns. Similar to Demon Rush, players now level up by playing Horde Rush and unlock perks that improve their character’s stats. This allows them to survive longer, reach the final boss, and unlock the endless mode.

In Battle Royale mode, be sure to explore the new Halloween locations, but be careful in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza – the animatronics are always lurking there. If you’re up to the task, take them down to possess them and gain extra health, shields, and a free revive. Fortnitemares runs until November 1st.
