PlayStation Plus: Official list of free games for October 2026 revealed
On Wednesday, Sony unveiled the next batch of free Essential games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. As in most months, there’s something for everyone: F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 are free for subscribers. The games can be downloaded starting October 6.
F1 25
EA offers games for every sport, including the ever-popular Formula 1. F1 25 is the latest installment in the series and received a paid expansion in June for the 2026 season, featuring new teams, drivers, and cars. Race offline in the Konnersport career mode or My Team mode, or compete online against other players.
Hunt: Showdown 1896
Hunt: Showdown 1896 is a first-person shooter with an extraction mechanic. In the remote areas of the American West, you fight against merciless monsters on four different maps. Of course, it wouldn’t be an extraction shooter if you weren’t also hunting other hunters to secure the coveted loot each round. You can hunt alone or in a team, in duos or trios.
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 is a completely different shooter than Hunt: Showdown 1896. It’s much more vibrant and colorful, teeming with giant voxel enemies just waiting to be destroyed. Earth is in danger, and it’s up to you to defend it in single-player or four-player co-op mode. Choose a team from over 100 characters and equip them with over 600 weapons and gear items to save the planet.
F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 are available until November 2nd. The free PlayStation Plus Essential games from September – Chained Echoes, Sniper Elite: Resistance, Wobbly Life, and MLB The Show 26 – can be claimed until October 5th.
PlayStation Plus Essential is the most affordable subscription option for Sony’s game subscription service. It offers online multiplayer access, a monthly selection of free PS5 and PS4 games, cloud storage, and discounts in the PlayStation Store. PlayStation Plus Essential costs €79.99 annually, €27.99 for three months, or €10.99 per month. Prices for all PS Plus subscriptions were increased in May.
