Samsung Wallet now offers support for digital car keys for VW EVs

Samsung announced today that Samsung Wallet now supports the digital car key for VW EVs, including the ID. Polo, ID. Cross, ID.3neo, ID.4, ID.5, ID.7, and ID. Buzz. Only vehicles produced from April 27, 2026, onwards and equipped with the “Digital Key Preparation” package are compatible.

This feature allows you to lock, unlock, and start your car with a compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphone, without needing a physical key.
Samsung Wallet car keys support UWB and NFC
The digital car keys in Samsung Wallet support UWB technology for contactless opening and NFC for unlocking and starting with a fingertip. You can also open the trunk using the remote control.
Digital keys can be shared with trusted individuals via Samsung Wallet, allowing you to set specific access rights for each person. This makes it easy to grant friends and family temporary access to your car when needed.
Samsung states that its digital keys meet EAL6+ certification standards for enhanced protection against unauthorized access. They are stored directly on the device and secured by Samsung Knox. If you lose your smartphone with a digital key or it is stolen, you can remotely manage or remove your digital key using Samsung Find.
