Apple Pay launches in the Philippines
Apple Pay was rolled out to the Philippines today, meaning that iPhone and Apple Watch owners in the country can add supported debit and credit cards to the Wallet app to make contactless payments.
Credit and debit cards can be added by opening the wallet app and tapping the “+” button. According to Reddit users, UnionBank, GoTyme, Metrobank, and Chinabank are among the supported banks. Card verification is done via SMS or phone call.
Pay with Apple Pay at Starbucks and 7-Eleven
Once an eligible card is added to the Wallet app, it can be used in stores that support Apple’s payment service. Reddit users have already been able to add their cards to Apple Wallet and use them to pay at stores like Starbucks and 7-Eleven.
Apple Pay is available in many countries worldwide, including information on participating banks. The Philippines are not yet listed on the Apple website, but Apple should publish a full list of participating banks soon.
