Google is launching Google Pics today. The new service should not be confused with Google Photos or Google Images, as it offers, according to Google, “a range of finely tuned editing features that allow you to create and precisely edit images, rather than starting from scratch.”
It’s unclear why the new Google Pics features aren’t simply being adopted from Gemini. Nano Banana is also being used, although Google doesn’t specify the version.

Pics is both a standalone product and integrated into Google Workspace apps, starting with Slides, Docs and Drive, so you can “edit images where you already work”. However, there’s a catch: Currently, the feature is only available to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers, as well as most Google Workspace business customers. The integration with Docs and Slides is already live and will be extended to Drive in the coming weeks. All other integrations will follow gradually in the coming weeks. Source
