The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 action camera is here to steal market share from market leader GoPro and rival DJI. The camera costs $399.99, making it $50 cheaper than its predecessor. In the EU it is €449.99. The GoPro inspiration for the design is clear, and yet the Insta360’s front display only shows information and not a live feed of what the camera sees. Instead, you get the flip-up main screen, now 2.5 inches in size, with improved brightness and pixel density.

The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 is robust and waterproof up to 12 meters including precise underwater controls. It can record 8K video at 30 frames per second and 4K slow motion at 120 frames per second with a 1/1.3 inch sensor. There is also a 157-degree ultra-wide-angle Leica Summarit lens and Leica color profiles.

The hardware paired with the AI-supported software is said to deliver “breathtaking clarity in low light conditions.” The PureVideo function is said to reduce noise while providing better brightness and more details. However, the feature only works up to a resolution of 4K at a maximum of 60fps. Photos are taken at a resolution of 50 MP.

The large image sensor allows two-fold digital zoom without loss of image quality and the new integrated windshield keeps noise to a minimum. According to the manufacturer, the battery life of the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 is 180 minutes, which sounds pretty optimistic. On the other hand, charging to 80% with a 30 watt PD charger only takes 18 minutes, so the action cam is quickly back in play even without a second battery. A full charge takes 47 minutes.
