One of Jack Reacher’s most emotionally charged adventures has apparently been canceled due to the grim political climate. Last Friday, Reacher actor Alan Ritchson hinted in a Threads post that Amazon halted a season in which Reacher fights white supremacists following Donald Trump’s re-election.

“Every year I’m sad to find out that the next season won’t be the adaptation of the book in which he slaughters his way through a camp of white supremacists,” one user wrote in the forum. Ritchson replied: “My favorite book. Funny anecdote: I had approval for it until someone got re-elected.” Ritchson was apparently referring to Donald Trump’s re-election in 2024. This season might have been the fourth or fifth of the series: The show first aired in 2020, and the third and fourth seasons were scheduled for February 2025 and August 2026, respectively.

The book in question is “Die Trying,” the second installment in the Jack Reacher series. Originally published in 1998, the novel tells the story of the title character, who, along with the daughter of a prominent politician, is kidnapped by an organization of white supremacists.

Prime Video has not yet issued an official statement regarding Alan Ritchson’s remarks, but it seems plausible that Amazon dropped the storyline for fear of negative reactions from Trump supporters or even the president himself. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos publicly endorsed Trump after his re-election, calling his victory an “extraordinary political comeback.”

What is Reacher about?

For those unfamiliar with Reacher: It’s an action-thriller series about a former major in the US military police who fights against various criminal organizations. The series has been renewed for a fifth season, based on the twentieth novel, “Make Me.” The spin-off “Neagley” premiered last week, on September 16, 2026.

As for TV star Ritchson, he has made his political views clear in the past: “Trump is a rapist and a fraud, and yet the entire Christian church treats him like he’s their figurehead—it’s absurd. I don’t get it.” Since then, he has criticized the president repeatedly, particularly in connection with the Epstein files. He called Bernie Sanders a “hero.” Last week, Variety reported that Ritchson was in talks for a lead role in a Sony Helldivers film.
